Air-source heat pump cost installed in Finland 2026

€1,500–€4,500installed

Every figure below is published as it stands. We do not average them, because the mean of a marketing range, a costed worked example and the median of two jobs is a number nobody measured.

The parts of the price

Installers quote these items apart from each other. That is exactly why a "from" price misleads: it is almost always just one of these rows.

the installation job alonemedian of 31 verified jobsThis is the price of the installation job, not of a device installed. In some of these jobs the customer supplied the device, so it cannot be compared with an "installed" price.€600–€1,350

The household tax credit

Household tax credit: 35% of the labour share of a company invoice, up to €1,600 per person per year, with a €150 own share (Verohallinto, 10 February 2026). The government has proposed raising this to 40% and €2,100 for 2026–2027, retroactively from 1 January 2026 (HE 113/2026 vp, Eduskunta, 11 June 2026). Parliament has not passed the bill, and the tax administration still writes about it in the conditional (Verohallinto, 16 June 2026).

Computed on this page’s own labour-share band€600–€1,350

The credit under the rules in force

€60–€323

The elevated credit for giving up oil heating

€210–€660

Giving up oil heating altogether carries an elevated credit of 60% of the labour share, up to €3,500 per person, in force until 31 December 2027 (Verohallinto, 10 February 2026).

Grants

The grant is closed. Applications ended on 25 May 2026 at 16.15, the appropriation was spent in full and over 300 applicants received nothing. It used to pay €4,000 / €2,500 depending on the replacement system (Elinvoimakeskus, 1 September 2026).

These figures are an example of an average Finnish detached house, not your house. Replace them with your own — the result updates as you type.

The baseline is direct electric heating. No sourced figure for oil or district heating is available here, so nothing is computed against them.

The calculator’s constants and where they come from

average annual heating energy of a detached house
19,600 kWh/a
Computed by dividing the 2024 heating energy of detached houses (22,797 GWh) by the 2025 stock of one- and two-family houses (1,161,262). The stock includes vacant houses, which drags the mean down, and the figure is delivered heat, not kilowatt-hours on an electricity bill.
Tilastokeskus, 4 December 2025
domestic hot water as a share of heating energy
20%
It matters because a heat pump’s efficiency is materially worse for hot water than for space heating: a calculator that lumps them together over-predicts the saving.
Tilastokeskus, 4 December 2025
what one saved kilowatt-hour is worth
11–14 snt/kWh
This figure is published nowhere: it is derived from the energy price, the energy part of the transfer fee, the electricity tax and VAT. Use it as a calculator default but ask for the user’s own price. Statistics Finland’s 18.04 snt/kWh overstates the saving by about a third, because it contains a standing charge that a heat pump does not remove.
Tilastokeskus, 11 June 2026
the effective seasonal factor of an air-to-air pump, delivery losses included
1.8–3.0
This, not the unit’s labelled SCOP, is the number a calculator should use: the simulated SCOP values were 3.4–2.2 and the heat-delivery efficiency 0.91–0.85.
VTT, 2016
purchased-energy saving in an old detached house with one air-to-air pump
6,420–9,560 kWh/a
The same house and the same 24,900 kWh of space and ventilation demand; the spread comes purely from unit quality. In the renovated house the saving is 4,590–6,370 kWh. Anyone quoting one number without naming the house and the unit is guessing.

A price band tells you the order of magnitude. Only a quote tells you what your own job costs — and only a quote states the labour share separately, which is the part the tax credit applies to.

What we do not tell you, because no source does

These gaps are deliberate. A number with no dated source has no business on a page whose whole promise is that every number carries its date.

  • Urakkamaailma’s per-city averages sit far below its own national average, because they describe an installation job rather than a device installed. Those pages carry no date of their own, so we publish none of their figures — only the fact that one site’s two numbers describe different products.
  • Some installed-cost figures repeated across the trade, such as the extra cost of upgrading an electrical panel, exist only as vendor consensus with no identifiable source page. They are left out, and the corresponding items appear only in the list of what a price does not cover.

Frequently asked

What does air-source heat pump cost installed in Finland?

€1,500–€4,500. €1,500–€3,000 installed — a marketplace’s stated range (urakkamaailma.fi, 21 May 2026). €1,500–€3,500 installed — a vendor’s stated range (aaltoair.fi, 2026). €1,700–€4,500 installed — a vendor’s stated range (kevytremppa.fi, 2026).

What is the price of an air-source heat pump made of?

A quoted price normally covers indoor unit, outdoor unit, wall penetration, refrigerant lines, condensate drain and commissioning. Quoted separately, as a rule: a dedicated electrical circuit, extra indoor units, scaffolding or a lift, condensate heating cable and a bracket for a difficult façade.

Why do different sites quote different prices?

Prices for an air-source heat pump differ because the sources scope the job differently: some price the installation labour alone, some the device installed, and some the whole system including demolishing the old one. That is why every figure on this page states what it covers, what sample it rests on and the date its source carries.

Does the installation qualify for the household tax credit?

Household tax credit: 35% of the labour share of a company invoice, up to €1,600 per person per year, with a €150 own share (Verohallinto, 10 February 2026). The government has proposed raising this to 40% and €2,100 for 2026–2027, retroactively from 1 January 2026 (HE 113/2026 vp, Eduskunta, 11 June 2026). Parliament has not passed the bill, and the tax administration still writes about it in the conditional (Verohallinto, 16 June 2026).

Is there still a grant for replacing oil heating?

The grant is closed. Applications ended on 25 May 2026 at 16.15, the appropriation was spent in full and over 300 applicants received nothing. It used to pay €4,000 / €2,500 depending on the replacement system (Elinvoimakeskus, 1 September 2026). Giving up oil heating altogether carries an elevated credit of 60% of the labour share, up to €3,500 per person, in force until 31 December 2027 (Verohallinto, 10 February 2026).
