Why the band is this wide

The sources do not disagree about the price; they disagree about the scope of the job. One prices the installation labour, one the device installed, one the whole system including demolishing the old one. That is why each figure carries what it covers and the sample it rests on.

The household tax credit

Household tax credit: 35% of the labour share of a company invoice, up to €1,600 per person per year, with a €150 own share (Verohallinto, 10 February 2026). The government has proposed raising this to 40% and €2,100 for 2026–2027, retroactively from 1 January 2026 (HE 113/2026 vp, Eduskunta, 11 June 2026). Parliament has not passed the bill, and the tax administration still writes about it in the conditional (Verohallinto, 16 June 2026).

No source splits work from materials in this category, so we compute no euro figure for the credit. The tax administration’s own break-even: the cap is reached at about €5,000 of labour. Ask for a quote that itemises the labour share.

Giving up oil heating altogether carries an elevated credit of 60% of the labour share, up to €3,500 per person, in force until 31 December 2027 (Verohallinto, 10 February 2026).

The grant is closed. Applications ended on 25 May 2026 at 16.15, the appropriation was spent in full and over 300 applicants received nothing. It used to pay €4,000 / €2,500 depending on the replacement system (Elinvoimakeskus, 1 September 2026).

The calculator’s constants and where they come from

Computed by dividing the 2024 heating energy of detached houses (22,797 GWh) by the 2025 stock of one- and two-family houses (1,161,262). The stock includes vacant houses, which drags the mean down, and the figure is delivered heat, not kilowatt-hours on an electricity bill.

Use it as a calculator default but ask for the user’s own price. Statistics Finland’s 18.04 snt/kWh overstates the saving by about a third, because it contains a standing charge that a heat pump does not remove.

What we do not tell you, because no source does

These gaps are deliberate. A number with no dated source has no business on a page whose whole promise is that every number carries its date.

  • Drilling a borehole needs a municipal permit almost everywhere in Finland, and the permit fee is not inside a contractor’s turnkey price unless stated. There is no national permit fee, because every municipality sets its own.
  • Urakkamaailma’s per-city averages sit far below its own national average, because they describe an installation job rather than a device installed. Those pages carry no date of their own, so we publish none of their figures — only the fact that one site’s two numbers describe different products.
  • Some installed-cost figures repeated across the trade, such as the extra cost of upgrading an electrical panel, exist only as vendor consensus with no identifiable source page. They are left out, and the corresponding items appear only in the list of what a price does not cover.
